Megapiksel's new project manager: introducing Marian
The Megapiksel team has grown again! Meet our new marketing project manager, Marian.
A person who has seen the world, doesn't shrink from challenges, and finds a solution even when at first glance it seems like there isn't one. Let's get acquainted!
What's your job title, and what do you actually do?
I'm a project manager, but mostly I talk to people. From those conversations, I sift out all the important parts, build a working plan out of them, and make sure that plan actually gets carried out.
It's the kind of work that's oriented toward better solutions and results.
What were you doing before joining Megapiksel?
Before Megapiksel, I bounced between different areas of marketing: I worked in event marketing, at a PPC and web development agency, and as an in-housemarketing person at a B2B startup. I mostly worked remotely and traveled around the world. Along the way I lived in Spain, Vietnam, and South Africa, but home called me back in the end, and here I am.
What does a typical workday start with for you?
Coffee or matcha latte, a bit of chatting around the office, and then email and Slack go straight open so I can get up to speed on what's happening. I wouldn't really call myself a morning person, and all my personal errands happen after work hours.
What makes Megapiksel special, in your view?
At Megapiksel, the team isn't just a tool for churning out task solutions like a production line. People here pay attention to one another, and I definitely feel valued here.
What's your superpower at work?
“Get shit done” attitude. If there's no way to do it, there's still a way to do it.
A sentence you say every day, or too often?
I've picked up quite a few sayings from my grandfather, like "well, alright then," "if that's how it is, that's how it is," and my favorite: "well, nothing to be done about it."
What moment from your time at Megapiksel so far has stuck with you the most?
The brightest moment of my long week was Friday evening, when we had an extended team day with our friend agency häk and some guests from Slovenia. We really do have very cool people here.
If you weren't in marketing, then…?
I'd backpack’around the world and do some kind of niche thing — like teaching a table sport (for a while that's actually what happened, and I taught kitesurfing under the palm trees). Or I'd be an urban planner. That's definitely a topic close to my heart, and I can definitely picture myself designing human-friendly cities.
Guilty pleasure?
Eating out. If I get the chance, I avoid cooking like the plague.
Recommend one song, movie, book, or podcast, that changes lives.
My favorite film is our own 2017 Estonian film "November," which is genuinely well made — it nailed me to the screen and made me feel strong emotions. I suppose that also reflects my interest in fantasy films and books.
…………………..
Welcome to the team, Marian!
